Hello Everyone!

Enjoy!

Renaud

Songs:

It was so good to see you Renaud! Very excited to continue our work together. We will continue to work on Grandmother. We will work on speeding up the tempo this week. You can also continue to work on Lemonade stand. You may also increase the speed of this song during the week. You also have a new song! This is All my friends. For this one try clapping and counting the rhythm of this song to help you with the tempo.

How parents can help: Encourage your child to have a daily practice routine and ensure that they are filling out their homework logs correctly. In addition to the online homework posts, I recommend that each student keep and maintain a homework journal where they can fill in how long they practice and what they worked on that week. You can decorate it to make it fun!

Camille

This week we will continue to work on Sea story. You can try playing it with the drum beat on your keyboard! Watch out for the pauses in between left and right hand. Be sure to just keep going, don’t stop! You also have Hey Mr. Half note dot. We learned about the dotted half note today. This note has 3 beats. Remember to count

Well done with Pirate of the north sea! Continue to work on the articulations within the piece. There are both Staccato (short detached notes) and Legato (smooth and connected notes). Be sure to notice where they are and do your best to make them sound different. You will also have to consider the same when going through Queens royal entrance. Remember the Dynamics are also important! Don’t forget about those either.

Technique:

This week we talked about key signatures and a few major scales. Try out C, D, G and A Major scale this week!

EXAM PREP! Over the next few weeks and months we will begin our exam preparation for RCM grade 1 piano. We have chosen our pieces but they can change in the next couple of weeks if you want. Begin reviewing: Ballet, Red Satin Jazz, The Snake, and The Swinging Leprechaun. From there we can decide which ones to keep and which ones to change.
