Hello Students and Families,

Things have moved quickly on the public health front over the last 4 days.

I would like to begin the official position statement about our approach to this by saying we will be calm, kind, well-informed, and clean.  Your personal and family well-being is always our priority.

Toronto has experienced Corona viruses twice before in recent years, in the form of SARS (2003) and MeRS (2012).

In previous occurrences of these types of virus – which you may not even remember – we had a solid reliance on our trusted and professional institutions municipally and nationally, which are the sources I recommend you follow now for accurate clinical advice about how to handle the Corona virus.  For clear, fact-based information about how to handle the Corona virus, here is the link to the City of Toronto’s page for this:

https://www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/

For context about how well Toronto is handling this situation, at the time of writing, there were 63 cases representing 0.0000215% of the City’s population.

As a company that oversees important aspects of people’s lives, whether providing work for musicians, or enjoyable educational experiences to children and their families, we aim do our best to continue to deliver our services and provide the reassurance of regular activities and habit to our community.

We feel that we can provide an invaluable service at this time in a comfortable and extremely low-risk environment.

We are investigating delivery of our private lessons by online video.  We aim to sort this out by end of day, Monday.  We will provide you follow-up instructions on how to connect with us for your lesson, once that happens.

Stay tuned for how we will handle Make-up lessons originally scheduled for this week while we sort out the online lessons.  We may need to have two make-up weeks at the end of the school year, adding the first week of July to the last week of June.

Music Together and Rhythm Kids classes are at a natural break point that aligns perfectly with the school closures, with classes resuming on April 4th.  Since this provides 3 full weeks of break, we are not going make any changes to our schedules at this time.  Should the situation become high-risk, we will adapt the schedule near the end of March, and let you know.  Any families that self-selected to be away from class as a result of these concerns is welcome to come to a make-up class at any one of our other locations over the spring, at a time that is convenient for you.

If you have any questions or concerns that are not addressed here, please reach out to me directly in the office at 416-651-7529.  If I am not available, I will do my very best to get back to you in a timely fashion.  In all cases, your health and well-being are our priority.

Many thanks for your time and kind consideration in this matter.

Barnaby.
