Hi Everyone,
Here are your assignments for this week:

What to practice: Demons

How parents can support practice: TBD
Jett
Recommended minutes to practice: 15 min/day
What to practice: As Jett didn’t have his guitar today we did an introductory lesson on piano. For practice – keep going on Jingle Bells.
How to practice it most effectively: Use a metronome for a portion of practice time (5 min) and go through the notes Bonus: see if you can start figuring out the next part of the song.
How parents can support practice: I’ve sent a progress report home with Jett today, please take a look when you get the chance and let me know if you have any questions. I’m recommending Jett gets started with the “Hal Leonard Guitar Method Vol 1”, if you can pick this up that’d be great – should be available at Long & McQuade.
Hythem
Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day 4 days a week
What to practice: Radioactive, Drag Me Down, X-Files
How to practice it most effectively: Aim to “touch” the guitar as many days during the week as possible, consistently returning to the instrument will be key to making progress.
How parents can support practice: Developing a routine for practice is a good idea moving forward, have fun!
Maurya
Recommended minutes to practice: 30 min/day
What to practice: Chords To Hotel California
How to practice it most effectively: With a metronome, 4 clicks per chord, start at 50 bpm – Listen to the click as you play, if you’re early then relax into it, if you’re late speed up.
How parents can support practice: I’ve sent a progress report home with Maurya today, please take a look when you get a chance. Thank you!
Ian
Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day
What to practice: Barring / Rhythms / Notation
How to practice it most effectively: Barring – return to this each day, letting your hand stretch into this playing position over time, remember to create space in your hand at the bottom of the guitar. Rhythms – try strumming with up and down strums along with a metronome and counting 1+2+3+4+ Notation – try notating your composition with the rhythmic notation we looked at.
Have a good week everyone!
