Hi Everyone,

Here are your assignments for this week:

Declan

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: Ob-Li-Di-Ob-La-Da (Beatles)

How to practice it most effectively: Aim to get familiar with the notes and rhythms, as well as transitioning from one part to the next. Remember that for the most part, there are 3 different figures, one starting on Bb, one on Eb, and one on F (other than the G in the chorus).

How parents can support practice: Encourage Declan to pick up the instrument for a few minutes each day and take a look at his lesson materials.

Lucien

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: #4-5 in Hal Leonard Book (+ #6 for Bonus!)

How to practice it most effectively: Play through the notes on guitar, but also try saying the counting along with the playing. Remember that you can check timing by first saying “1, 2, 3, 3” like a clock, and then adding in the guitar.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Lucien to continue picking up the guitar and taking a look at his lesson materials.

Griffin

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: Great Days, Dance Dance, Smells Like Teen Spirit

How to practice it most effectively: Take a look at each of these songs this week – 3 things to check for: #1. Notes #2. Rhythms #3. Transitioning from one part to the next. Bring in questions for next week and we’ll take a look.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Griffin to continue picking up the guitar and taking a look at his lesson materials.

Jayden

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: Exercises #3-5 in Hal Leonard Book

How to practice it most effectively: Play through the notes and say the counting at the same time.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Jayden to continue picking up the guitar and taking a look at his lesson materials.

Augustin

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: #15 & 16 in Hal Leonard Book

How to practice it most effectively: Take it one bar at a time, see if you can play each bar 3 times in a row before moving on. This will help you get used to reading notes on multiple strings.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Augustin to continue picking up the guitar and taking a look at his lesson materials.

Have a good week everyone!
