How to practice it most effectively: Try playing it with a metronome – 85 Slow, 125 Fast, Try speeds in between as well.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Declan to spend a few minutes each day on his assignment.

Lucien

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: Page 6 in Hal Leonard Book (Ex. 1 + 2)

How to practice it most effectively: Check which note is which with the legend at the top. Say the counting aloud as you get more comfortable with the notes. Notice that in the first example you’ll say “1, 2, 3, 4” for each note, but in the 2nd example you’ll say “1, 2” for the first note, and “3, 4” for the 2nd, etc.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Lucien to continue picking up the guitar each day and taking a look at his lesson materials.

Griffin

Recommended minutes to practice: 15 min/day

What to practice: Dance Dance Riff # 1+2

How to practice it most effectively: Use a metronome, try at different speeds. 3 ways to practice: 1. A click for every note 2. Two clicks for every note 3. One click for every two notes. ***Bonus – write out both the parts we learned.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Griffin to continue picking up the instrument each day.

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: Exercises 1-3 from Hal Leonard Book

How to practice it most effectively: Review exercises #1 and 2, and start checking out #3. Count along while playing and aim to make the counts sound even like the “tik tok” of a clock.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Jayden to pick up the instrument for a few minutes each day and take a look at his lesson materials.

Augustine

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: Hal Leonard Book Exercises #1-5

How to practice it most effectively: Count along as you play through the notes, be sure to use your 1st finger for “F” and your 3rd finger for “G”. Note that all 3 notes are on the “E String”. ***Take a look at the new part to Ghostbusters as well for bonus if you like.
