Recommended minutes to practice: 10-15min/day
What to practice: play 1st, 2nd, and 3rd strings (E, B, G) and alternate 2nd and 3rd fingers on RH plucking the strings.

What to practice: scales (C, G, D major) play both hands separately and then together, 1 octave. If you have Level 1 Faber (the red book) take a look at page 12. If not, we will continue with the book you have and “Jurassic Park”!

What to practice: the new scales (C minor harmonic, and G minor harmonic) 
How to practice it most effectively: each hand separately, and then together once each hand is mastered. Also practice the root-position chords for “Fly me to the moon.”

What to practice: “Blue Skies”
How to practice it most effectively: practice the variations in the second run-through (Doris Day version). Especially focus on the “singing a song” trying ‘meow’ then ‘na’ then the words. Also, the ending “blue skies – all day long!” (notes: G – A – C). Keep your jaw open and relaxed to get the vowel ‘aw’ in “long.”

What to practice: “City Song” by Grace Vanderwaal
How to practice it most effectively: practice the bridge section (listen to it several times and sing along) as well as the fast words of the pre-chorus (“the horns are just on the beat”). Work on sliding the note in the chorus (“and make it our so-o-o-o-ng”)

What to practice: trying to identify the notes (C is right before the group of 2 black notes and F is right before the group of 3 black notes). Also practice making up a song using only black keys and then only white keys!

What to practice: sing the names of the keys as you play them :) e.g. sing “A” when you play “A” and “B” when you play “B”  
Next week we will continue exploring songs with silly lyrics and with different themes such as emotions, weather, and colours etc.

What to practice: singing “D.R.E.A.M” in a higher key (we raised it up a full tone to start on Am). Also think of or write down lyrics about some of the other characters you brought today. We started an interesting song about some of them and it will be fun to continue!

What to practice: listen to “I’ll be seeing you” (Billie Holiday’s version), and sing along. Also practice the high notes in the chorus of “Ocean Eyes” – practice first using a vowel (ah) and then add the words.
