Jonathan

Daily amount of minutes to practice: 30

What to practice: This week Jonathan I want you to work on the beat for Runaway and get it up to tempo as close as you can (here is the transcription and the song live and the studio version.) I also want you to work on these beats and write in the 16th note counts above the music.

How to practice effectively: Really great improvement with the Runaway beat. You’ve almost got it! This week to get it up to speed is all about repetition and relaxation. Break up the beat into sections like we’ve been doing in lessons and practice stringing each of them together, focusing on the tricky parts more than the easy ones. Then once its second nature, you just have to keep up the repetitions and slowly increase the speed until you can get close to playing it with the song. For the beats, write out the 16th note subdivisions above each beat (1e+a 2e+a 3e+a 4e+a) that way you’ll be able to see more clearly the grid that all the other notes fall upon. Don’t worry if its not perfect, we’ll work some more on this next week so don’t be afraid to make mistakes and ask questions!

Another really great lesson man, awesome to see you keep making progress!
