Just a reminder to everybody that ABC will have a digital recital on May 1st! Please make sure to think about whether you would like to participate and what song you may like to play!

Jaron
– Recommended practice time: 15 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: G, D, and A Major scales (1 octave, doing our usual posture and bow hold check each time before playing), G Major scale (2 octaves, make sure to watch intonation of 0-1-2 on E string), and Etude (first three lines now, play through slowly and all together, and make sure to not only read the fingering numbers at the top, but the actual notes themselves too).

Olivia – hope you get some sleep!
– Recommended practice time: 30 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: Review 2-octave Major and minor scales (try to memorise fingering patterns for each scale, and focus on B and B-flat Major – make sure to stretch fourth finger for B Major), Go the Distance (practice full run-throughs and make sure your left hand doesn’t slide up the neck of the violin and cause all your notes to be too sharp), and Spring (first page shifts and bowings, and play through second page slowly and get familiar with the notes).

Amaia
– Recommended practice time: 15 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: G, D, and A Major scales (1 octave, doing our usual posture and bow hold check each time before playing), and Allegro (practice eighth-note phrases quickly and smoothly, and focus on playing third line).

Isabella – I was so happy to see you again in-person today!
– Recommended practice time: 15 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: Practice holding violin under chin with hands and no hands (in both plucking and bowing position, and make sure to maintain posture while playing exercises instead of just first few seconds of playing), practice plucking Three Point Shot and Mix ‘Em Up on second page of Violin Starter Packet, review bow hold, and practice bowing down-up-down-up on each string and A String Level on the second page of the packet.

Grace – good luck with your semester exams and papers!
– Recommended practice time: 30 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: 2-octave Major and minor scales (watch out for shifts to higher positions), and Hunter’s Chorus (practice adding accents to the second section, and work on sixteenth note phrases).

Hendry
– Reminder: Send me the anime music you  may want to play
– Recommended practice time: 30 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: C, D, E-flat, E, F, and G Major scales (2 octaves, doing our usual posture and bow hold check each time before playing, and focus on new scale E Major – make sure to stretch fourth finger higher), D minor scale (2 octaves – natural, melodic, harmonic, focus on natural scale fingering patterns), Gavotte (watch out for bowings – retakes and slurs), and Catharsis (first page and next few lines of second page – watch out for the 3 flats in  E-flat Major).

Thank you, stay safe, and happy playing!
