Hello, everybody! Just two reminders for you this week: 1) next week is your April break, but we still have lessons scheduled, so remember to come to your lesson or call the office if you want to cancel, and 2) if you have decided to participate in the recital, make sure to register for the performance. Info on how to register should be in parents’ emails!

Jaron – great work sight-reading Allegro today!
– Recommended practice time: 15 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: G, D, and A Major scales (continuing to do your posture and bow hold check each time before playing, and also making sure your bow is staying in the middle of the bridge and fingerboard), Long Long Ago (practice long-short-short rhythm patterns and focus on third line), and Allegro (play through slowly and get familiar with notes).

Olivia – great work sight-reading Go the Distance today!
– Recommended practice time: 30 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: review 2-octave major and minor scales (try to memorise fingering patterns for each scale), Go the Distance (play through slowly and get familiar with the notes, and pay special attention to shifting section), and Mirror duet (we didn’t have time to play this today, but continue focusing on second section even eighth notes).

Amaia – I missed you today, see you next week!

Crosby
– Recommended practice time: 15 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: 0-1-2-3-2-1-0 fingering patterns on each string (keep an eye on your bow hold while playing and make sure your hand and fingers are on the frog), A and D Major scales (remember that D Major is very similar to A Major, you are doing the exact same thing but just on D and A strings instead of A and E), Twinkle (theme and variation A “pepperoni pizza” – play the first two lines for variation A and look ahead if you wish), and Lightly Row (first line, and look ahead if you wish!)

Hendry
– Recommended practice time: 20 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: G, D, and C Major scales (one octave), C and E-flat Major scales (two octaves, continuing to do your posture and bow hold check each time before playing, and also making sure your bow is staying in the middle of the bridge and fingerboard), Minuet 2 (keep an eye on m. 25 line and make sure the rhythm pattern is long-short-short-short-short), Starting the Case (keep watching out for low first fingers and high third fingers, and keep on practicing E-flat Major scale before playing the second section), and Disillusion (play-through to practice for recital).

Grace
– Recommended practice time: 15 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: G, D, and A Major scales (continuing to do your posture and bow hold check each time before playing, and also making sure your bow is staying in the middle of the bridge and fingerboard), O Come Little Children (including dynamics at the end and focusing on the last line), and May Song (look out for dotted-quarter note rhythms and string crossings at the beginning and end).

Thank you, stay safe, and happy playing!
