Just a reminder that next week will be our last official week of lessons before the winter break, with the week after being a make-up lesson week. So, make sure to check your schedules and see if you have a make-up lesson!

Jaron – great work with your bow hold and accents today!
– Recommended practice time: 15 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: G, D, and A Major scales (doing our usual posture and bow hold check each time before playing, and paying close attention to the intonation of 3-2-1-0 at the end of the scale – sometimes you stretch your fingers too high and the notes are too sharp), and Allegretto (practice playing each accent throughout the whole piece, and circle the accents in your own music, plus add in the rit., fermata, and a tempo into the third and last sections).

Olivia – I hope you continue to feel better and good luck with your biology test!
– Reminder: print out sheet music from school of new song and bring to our lesson, if you want to work on it together
– Recommended practice time: 30 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: review 2-octave Major and minor scales (try to memorise fingering patterns for each scale, and focus on E Major and F Major shifts, remember that the fingerings for these two scales are very similar), Avatar State (review full piece and both parts so we can duet together next time), and see if there’s anything you want to add to our Zero to Hero arrangement!

Amaia – I hope you feel better soon!
– Recommended practice time: 15 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: G, D, and A Major scales (doing our usual posture and bow hold check each time before playing), and May Song (try to play through whole piece).

Grace – I missed you today, hope you’re catching up on some sleep!
– Recommended practice time: 20 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: 2-octave scales (shifts for E and F Major specifically), Gavotte (keep exploring those musical decisions we talked about), and review all Suzuki Violin Book 1 songs.

Hendry – well done playing the first part of our duet today!
– Recommended practice time: 30 min/day, 5 days/week
– Practice: C, D, E-flat, F, and G Major scales (2 octaves, doing our usual posture and bow hold check each time before playing, and paying close attention to intonation and listening while playing), D minor scale (1 octave, natural, melodic, harmonic – try to memorise and remember which scale is which), Two Grenadiers (watch out for low first finger B-flat on A string in the first section, and play through second section slowly and get familiar with the notes), and Catharsis (pay close attention to the small differences between the first and second parts, and practice playing full piece with a consistent tempo).

Thank you, stay safe, and happy playing!
