Hi everyone,

Here are your homework assignments for this week:

Thomas

Practice the new coordination exercises that we worked on this week. Play each one at least 4 times in a row before switching to the next one. When you switch, make sure that the transition is smooth and that you don’t skip a beat. If the transition doesn’t go smoothly, then stop and go back to the previous exercise and try again. If you have trouble play slower and count out loud.

Great work on the ghost note beats this week. Keep working on the beats from last week and see if you can play them a little faster. Also, practice the new beat we did this week in which the ghost note lines up with the hi-hat. Focus on always keeping the ghost notes soft, especially when you begin to play the beats faster.

Nathan

Black Dog is all finished now! Congrats! Keep playing it every so often at home, especially if you want to play it at the recital this year. But don’t over play it… you don’t want to get tired of it. After March Break we’ll start working on some new beats that incorporate “ghost notes” which we learned about today. Practice at home playing soft notes on the snare drum. It is important that you keep your stick very low to the drum for the soft ghost notes and don’t lift it before up before striking the drum.

Alexy

Great work on the rhythm exercises this week! Keep working on them at home and make sure that you can hear a difference between the eighth notes and sixteenth notes. Also, practice transitioning from a drum beat to a rhythm on the snare drum and then back to the beat, just like we practiced in your lesson. Refer to what I wrote in your folder to remember what we did.
