David

Awesome first lesson, David! Hopefully you were able to successfully purchase or rent a full-length weighted keyboard today or tomorrow, as well as Piano Adventures Lesson Book Level 1. And, while you’re at it, please bring a notebook so I can scribble work notes for you to follow as you practice each week. Glad to have you aboard!!

Minutes to practice: 45 per day.
What to practice: The 5-finger exercise and the first piece in Piano Adventures Lesson Book Level 1
How to practice it most effectively: According to the videos you recorded of me playing.

Brigitte

We started going deeper into what it takes to make a beautiful sound while shaping beautiful phrases today. Thanks for indulging this ‘fine work’ today, but please do replicate this week as you practice! This is what it takes to get the best sound you possibly can out of a cello. No easy task at first, but once you got it, it’s like riding a bike!

Minutes to practice: 45 per day.
What to practice: The exercises marked in your music book with today’s date.
How to practice it most effectively: As we practiced it in the lesson today — hyper-listening to your sound production as you’re practicing in slow motion.

Mazin

Another excellent lesson, Maz. Dill Pickles is really coming along. Focus now on ‘St. James’ as well as your other pieces, practicing them the way we did in the lesson today.

Minutes to practice: 45 per day (or more, as you like).
What to practice: The 4 pieces listed in your notebook.
How to practice it most effectively: Patiently, paying attention to all of the fine rhythmic and fingering/note details!
How parents can support practice: Make sure Maz finds enough time to practice.

Jabari

Good to have you back, young sir. It had been a while!

Minutes to practice: 30 per day.
What to practice: The note-naming game and the exercise in your book marked with today’s date.
How to practice it most effectively: By replicating the way in which I moved playing your piece in the video you took today.
How parents can support practice: Make sure Jabari practices and focuses while he is practicing!
