How to practice it most effectively: continue singing through the 1st verse and chorus, following the music. Listen to the next part of the song (recording from the Musical in the same key) and go through it slowly. Practice singing the phrases with higher notes (in chorus) on “ah” or “oo” first to practice sustaining your breath through each phrase.
