Hi Everyone,
Here are your assignments for this week:
Declan
Recommended minutes to practice: 15 min/day , 5 days a week
What to practice: Bass Line to “All Things You Are” ***Fill out your practice chart for the week
How to practice it most effectively: Go through the notes in a single bar until you can play them in rhythm, 3 times in a row. Then add the next bar, and keep going until you can play through the entire example.
How parents can support practice: Encouraging Declan to pick up the bass and work through his lesson materials is a great way to support practice at home.
Lucien
Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day
What to practice: Autumn Leaves (first 5 bars)
How to practice it most effectively: Go through your notes one phrase at a time, we’re looking at the first 3 phrases this week.
How parents can support practice: Encourage Lucien to continue picking up the guitar to do practice for 10 min/day, at this point he will make great strides just by reviewing what he’s looked at in lesson week to week. Also, asking questions and encouraging him to discuss what he’s learning about on guitar is a great way to further engage with lesson materials.
Griffin

What to practice: The Scientist
How to practice it most effectively: Go through the counting to the first few phrases, and tap the rhythm on your leg. Then try playing the melody on guitar.
How parents can support practice: Encouraging Griffin to spend a bit of time on the instrument each day is a great way to support practice.

What to practice: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
How to practice it most effectively: Count up how many frets until you get to the number of your note, play the note by pushing down with your left hand on the “frets” of the guitar, try to play as close as you can to the right side of the fret. Pull down on the string with your thumb in your right hand to make a sound.
