Hi Everyone,
Here are your assignments for this week:

What to practice: Stairway to Heaven + Shape Of You
How to practice it most effectively: Stairway -Set your metronome for 77 and play one note for every 2 clicks, pick two chord shapes and alternate between (first two chords we tried in class). Shape of You – Go through the chord changes and starting checking out the melody, then we’ll look at mixing them together!
Jett

What to practice: Sunflower + Arms Around You
How to practice it most effectively: Sunflower – rhythms – 1. Say the counting 2. Tap the rhythm on your lap 3. Play the notes on your guitar in the rhythm of your counting. ***start checking out the notes to Arms Around You.
How parents can support practice: Encouraging Jett to continue spending time on the instrument is a great way to support practice.
Hythem
Reccomended minutes to practice: 10 min/4 times a week ***Fill out your practice chart for this week
What to practice: Radioactive
How to practice it most effectively: 3 bars of music in this song so far, try one bar at a time, play each note of the bar until you can get them consecutively in the order they’re written. Once you’ve got bar 1, move on to bars 2 and 3 and then cycle back.
How parents can support practice: Encourage Hythem to pick up the guitar throughout the week, he can fill out his practice chart as a way to track his progress.
Maurya
Reccomended minutes to practice: 30 min / day , 6 days a week
What to practice: Notes on the E strings / Bar chords
How to practice it most effectively: Go through your notes on the e string and say the letter names for each as we did in class , as well as bar chords B, Bmi, F#, F#mi
How parents can support practice: Encouraging Maurya to continue spending time on the guitar is a great way to support practice.
Aria
Recommended minutes to practice: 10 minutes / day
What to practice: Old Macdonald
How to practice it most efficiently: Go through your notes one bar a time to begin with (bars are separated by a vertical line on the music). After you can play through one bar, try the next and then try playing them together. Continue with this approach and see how much of the song you can play through! Use your same numbered finger for the fret you’re playing. (Index=1, middle=2, ring=3, pinky=4 ; use finger 1 for fret 1 etc.)
How parents can support practice: Encouraging Aria to pick up the guitar for a few minutes each day is a great way to support practice.
Have a good week everyone!
