Hi Everyone,

Here are your assignments for this week:

Hugo

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: D major in 2nd + 4th position, as well as up the A string individually. & Fingerpicking With Alternating Bass Pattern

How to practice it most effectively: Positions are the fret number where your first finger gets anchored. Saying the note names is a great way to practice the scales. For the fingerpicking, watch that the timing for the first note(s) is longer, while the other notes are all short.

Hythem

Recommended minutes to practice: 5 min/day

What to practice: X-Files Theme

How to practice it most effectively: Go through the notes written on the first line of music. Remember that the first note you play starts on the second fret of the E string. Bonus – try the “echo” effect we looked at in class (first time loud, next times quiet).

How parents can support practice: Encourage Hythem to pick up the guitar for a few minutes each day.

Ian

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: Improvising with E minor pentatonic and Blues Chords, Using Rhythms

How to practice it most effectively: Take a look at improvising with both chords, and single notes using the 3 rhythms we looked at.

Aria

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: Pg. 6 in the Hal Leonard Book Examples # 1 & 2. ***Rolling In The Deep for Bonus

How to practice it most effectively: Do a “count-in” before you play each example (say 1, 2, 3, 4 out loud) and continue counting as you play the notes. Bonus – start checking out the first part of the chorus to “Rolling In The Deep”.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Aria to continue picking up the guitar for a few minutes each day.

Have a good week everyone!

Trevor
