Hi Everyone,

Here are your assignments for this week:

Hugo

Recommended minutes to practice: 15 min/day

What to practice: Scales – C, D, G, A Fingerpicking/Alternating Bass

How to practice it most effectively: Play through the scales in different positions on the fretboard, say the note names/letter names. Take a look at the fingerpicking pattern we worked on in class, remember the first note is long, take it slow and then aim to speed it up.

Jack

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: Demons

How to practice it most effectively: Aim to take a look at this a few times this week, getting from one note to the next.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Jack to pick up the guitar a few times during the week.

Jett

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: I’m So Tired

How to practice it most effectively: Take it one bar at a time at first. See if you can get each bar three times in a row before moving on. Then try putting it together 2 bars at a time until you can play the whole song.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Jett to continue picking up the guitar for a few minutes each day.

Hythem

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: We’re Not Gonna Take It

How to practice it most effectively: Check out the first couple parts we looked at in class. Aim to make it sound the way you hear the song – we’ll take a look at some more next week.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Hythem to continue picking up the guitar during the week.

Maurya

Recommended minutes to practice: 15 min/day

What to practice: Hotel California

How to practice it most effectively: Start by looking at the bar, you could spend 10 min or so at the beginning of each session playing the bar and checking to see if all the notes are sounding. After that, take a look at the song and see if you can fit the bar in with the rest of the music. We’ll take a look at this again next week.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Maurya to continue picking up the guitar during the week.

Aria

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: Exercises 3-6 in Hal Leonard Book & Rolling In The Deep

How to practice it most effectively: For the book exercises, say the counting as you play the notes, aim to keep a consistent rhythm like the ticking of a clock. For Rolling In The Deep, go through the notes written in guitar notation, and aim to make it sound like the singing of the song.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Aria to continue picking up the guitar for a few minutes a day.

Have a good week everyone!
