Hi Everyone,

Here are your assignments for this week:

Hugo

Recommended minutes to practice: 15 min/day

What to practice: Landslide And Stairway To Heaven Solo

How to practice it most effectively: Metronome, Slow and Fast. See if you can get as slow as 30.

Yasmim

Recommended minutes to practice: 5 min/day

What to practice: Try playing different strings, and also different frets on the same string.

How parents can support practice: Setting aside a few minutes a day to pick up the instrument and try different sounds is a great way to practice for Yasmim to practice.

Maurya

Recommended minutes to practice: 15 min/day

What to practice: Cashmere

How to practice it most effectively: Keep looking at the part from rock band we were looking at in class today. Put the metronome on to check for on beats and offbeats, 90 is a good speed to start at but try it faster and slower as well.

How parents can support practice: Encourage Maurya to continue picking up the guitar and taking a look at his lesson materials.

Van

Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day

What to practice: Mary Had A Little Lamb

How to practice it most effectively: Try each “chunk” of the song by itself at first. Play it three times then move onto the next one. Then try putting the chunks together and playing larger sections of the song.

How parents can support practice: Picking up the guitar for a few minutes each day is a great way to get started. A book I’ll recommend for lessons is “Hal Leonard Guitar Method Vol 1”. It should be available at Long & Macquade or on Amazon.

Have a good week everyone!
