Hi Everyone,
Here are your assignments for this week:
Paul
Recommended minutes to practice: 15 min/day
What to practice: Scale Positions, One String Scales, Triads on Different String Sets, Write out 12 major scales
How to practice it most effectively: Play as low and as high on the instrument as you can for the given limitations (ex. Position, string, or string set)
Tresa
Recommended minutes to practice: 10 min/day
What to practice: Open chords, switching between two chords
How to practice it most effectively: Use a metronome, and switch between the 4th beat and the following 1st beat. Google “metronome” and one will come up as a plugin in the search engine. Try different speeds, and try switching “faster” at slower speeds to work toward faster speeds.
Yasmim
Recommended minutes to practice: 5 min/day
What to practice: Beginning of Mary Had A Little Lamb
How to practice it most effectively: Try two different note orders [4 2 0, and 0 2 4]. Then you can try [4 2 0 2 4 4 4]
How parents can support practice: Encourage Yasmim to pick up the guitar and try the notes she’s playing in lesson, [4 2 0] and [0 2 4] would be good to try.
Maurya
Recommended minutes to practice: 15 min/day
What to practice: Jump – Van Halen
How to practice it most effectively: Focus on the clapping this week, use a metronome, try doubling up the speed to hear 1+2+3+4+ instead of 1 2 3 4 (ex. 190 instead of 95)
How parents can support practice: Encourage Maurya to take a look at his lesson materials.
Have a good week everyone!
Trevor
