As you know, this will be the first time we’ve tried to have summer classes.  So, we asked you for your feedback about days and timings to get the best possible options sorted out for you.  We know that we can’t make this work for everyone, but we hope that we can get most of you looked after.

Here is the schedule that we are going to try to program, as well as who we have down (based on best guess):

Good news about Summer

Good news about the Summer is that we have some added flexibility for vacations, or away days.  The summer schedule is based on 8 weeks, but we can bill for as few as 6, if you are away.  The regular summer billing for the 8 weeks is $100.04 per month.  This looks higher in part due to our fee increase, but more-so due to the lack of holidays during this period, plus the average taken over 2 months instead of 9.  If you have questions about this, please call the office.  We won’t schedule any billing until we have confirmed your participation.  Billing will occur on July and August 1st.

“Fresh” Babies Needed!

Please consider helping us by spreading the word about our first-ever Babies classes, for children from birth through 7 months.  Music Together has long offered this module, using the same musical collections with age-appropriate activities to expose such young children to music, which is a great way to help kick-start development and the building of a musical home.

This has been a desire of ours for a long time, so we hope that we can get this class up and running on an ongoing basis.

Behind the Scenes, and Looking Ahead

There are two things coming that we want to tip you off about: Music Together Re-Branding, and Rhythm Kids.

The Music Together re-branding is an updating of all materials and messaging associated with the brand, which has been left untouched for almost 30 years.  We’re excited about this at ABC, because it offers a clean and modern design language that we hope will make it more inviting to new families, while maintaining focus on the core content and curriculum (which is always under review and evaluation based on latest research and information relating to music education, and early childhood education).  We should start to see some of the new look towards the end of the calendar year.

Rhythm Kids, however, is the thing that gives us butterflies in our stomachs; a bridge from ‘classic’ Music Together for older children, from kindergarten up through Grade 2, that will allow them to adapt to and learn more sophisticated musical behaviours, but aligning better, perhaps, than a traditional music lesson setting, which may not work for every child .  We know very little about this at the moment, but we have many families who have asked about this for their older children – hold on, it’s coming!  Fingers crossed for an early 2017 launch…

Special Shout out to Saturday’s Class

Barnaby had the pleasure of sitting in on Saturday’s class and was absolutely charmed by the brave parents who harmonized in many songs.  Great job!
