Hi everyone,

Next week I will be out of town so you will have a substitute teacher. I will update them on what you have each been working on. Here are your homework assignments for this week:

Oscar

Practice the jazz ride pattern with the two different foot patterns. Play it at a variety of different speeds (slow, medium, and fast) and make sure you always maintain the triplet feel of the beat. Play each of the 10 different snare rhythms in combination with the beat. Play them in different orders and try not to stop the beat when you transition between each rhythm.

Keep working on the rhythms that we have learned and a written in your book. It is important to be able to count these rhythms accurately before you try to play them. That way you will know if what you are playing is correct. Also, practice the beats and fills that we worked on this week. Be sure to keep counting in your head while you play.

Isaac

Practice the triplet rhythms that we worked on this week. Make sure that every note of the triplet sounds the same as every other note. You don’t want to have some notes that are longer and some that are shorter. Also, work on the triplet beat that we played along with the song “Oh Darlin’.” We will come back to this song later and try to play it again.
