Hi everyone,

Here are your homework assignments for this week:

Oscar

Practice the beat from “I Got the Feelin’” by James Brown. Break it down into parts – first bar/second bar, or even into half bars – and practice it slowly. Once the different parts start to feel comfortable, then work on playing through the whole beat. When you do this, make sure you practice playing without pauses or hesitations. You’ll get a better feel for the beat this way.

Leonie

Practice the beat from Stressed Out by 21 Pilots this week. Focus on keeping the bass drum light on the fast notes. This will help you to not slow down. If you feel up for it, try practicing along with the song. This will help you to get the feel for the beat. Also, try working in the fill that I showed you.

Alexy

Keep working on the accent patterns. They’re starting to sound really good, but you want to try to develop more consistency. This means playing each one several times in a row without stopping. Take them slow, and focus on not speeding up. Then stop and start again at a slightly faster speed.

Isaac

Review the rhythms that we have learned so far – quarter notes, eighth notes, and sixteenth notes. Practice the examples that I wrote down for you. Make sure you are counting in your head while you play. This will help you to be consistent and to not speed up or slow down.
