Sorry I am late sending out the homework e-mail this week. It’s been a busier-than-usual week for me. Here are your homework assignments for this week:
Oscar
Keep working on “Chameleon” by Herbie Hancock. Listen to the song a few times this week. Focus especially on switching between quarter notes on the hi-hat and eighth notes on the hi-hat. Practice the beat slowly so that you can keep steady time while making the change with your right hand.
Leonie
Spend some time this week listening to some music and make note of some songs that you might like to learn on drums. Try to listen to a variety of different kinds of music and think critically about what you like and what you don’t like about what you hear. We’ll do some more of this next week and decide on a song to begin learning.
Nathan
Take a look at the rhythm exercises that we worked on this week. Practice playing them around the drums like drums fills. Also, play a bar of a steady beat, then a bar of the rhythm, then back to the beat. This will help to ensure that you’re keeping a steady pulse and not speeding up or slowing down.
