Hello Everyone!

Here is the homework for this week!

Enjoy!

Julian

Recommended daily practice time is 5-10 minutes per day

Songs:

This week we are on the final songs of the book! We can continue with Tchaikovsky’s Waltz. There were many pauses in this one so be sure to practice it both with slow and fast tempos to become more comfortable with the piece. You also have Wild Windy Day, All the raindrops and Let’s go play! Go through the steps to learning a song for each of these.

Technique:

For this week you have the G 5 finger scale. This is similar to what we have done in the past, but instead of 8 notes you only play 5 notes. Go through this one as a warm up before each practice session.

How parents can help: Encourage your child to have a daily practice routine and ensure that they are filling out their homework logs correctly. In addition to the online homework posts, I recommend that each student keep and maintain a homework journal where they can fill in how long they practice and what they worked on that week. You can decorate it to make it fun!

Songs:

You completed two tests this week, Good work! You have three songs to work on this week. Canon – this one is tricky but if you take it super slow and practice hands apart you will become more comfortable with it. You also have Young Ludwig exploring, and Climb up on an elephant. For each of the songs, you may always begin by playing hands separately then gradually move towards hands together. Remember slow and steady is always good!

Technique:

We played through a few scales this week. All but one are complete. F major is the one you can continue to work on.

This week we looked at Ode to Joy and Twinkle little star. Remember when you work through both songs to say the letter names out loud as you play. This will allow you to keep track of where you are on the page. You can use the worksheets provided to help you out this week.

Theory:

We talked about family numbers today. For homework you can complete the sheets provided that help you remember where each family number lives on the piano!
