Another fantastic round of lessons, guys!  See homework for this week below.

Mazin

A substantial improvement on keeping true to the correct rhythm as written on the page for Chanson this week, Maz!  Now, make sure you capitalize on this gain and vow never to disobey the rhythm that’s written on the page for any music you ‘recreate’ again!!

Minutes to practice: 45 per day.
What to practice: Songs as listed in your notebook.
How to practice it most effectively: By reading, understanding, then applying the notes for each piece as described in your notebook.
How parents can support practice: By checking in on Maz’s progress, and ensuring that he is able to meet his practice time everyday!

Jabari

While you wait until your mom picks up Piano Adventures Primer Level, practice the note-naming game so that by next week when I test you, you will get every key name right, instantly!!

Minutes to practice: 30 minutes per day.
What to practice: the note-naming game and pg. 4 -17 in your music book
How to practice it most effectively: Keeping curved fingers, walking from key to key, and your wrists HIGH
How parents can support practice: Practice with Jabari as much as you can for the first few weeks until you are sure Jabari is able to practice effectively on his own.

Michael

Awesome first lesson, Michael!!  I hope I didn’t overwhelm you today with information overload, but I am glad you communicated well your fears and capabilities at this present time.  I think we’re going to work well together developing your piano playing!!

Minutes to practice: 45 per day.
What to practice: the note-naming game (on the keyboard and on the treble and bass clef staffs on the page), and the five-finger exercise of Piano Adventures Lesson Book Level One
How to practice it most effectively: To improve your finger dexterity, practice in SLOW MOTION, retracting your fingers as they come off the keys, and retract them even more before they play keys on strong beats.
