Another great round of lessons today, guys! Remember to practice this week what we worked on, and that ‘smart practice’ is better than lengthily practice sessions that are uninvolved.
Remember, finding and doing the correct DANCE/body movement of the piece you’re playing while articulating is key to putting the notes you are playing into context, and to making music! Practice with the metronome the pieces that require a steady rhythm.
Remember to ‘tickle’ the melodic keys so that you bring the melody and rhythm to life as you play! Musicians ‘paint’ with sound, so make an interesting and pretty picture!!
WOOHOOOOO!!!!! Thank you for telling me of your discomfort sitting on a low chair, Leah. Proper body alignment is essential to playing the best one can. Consider renting a better cello too when you’re picking up your adjustable chair.
Remember, finding and doing the correct DANCE/body movement/rhythmic feel of the piece you’re playing, while articulating, is key to putting the notes you are playing into context, and to making music! Shape the piano phrases WITH CARE just as much as you would while singing songs, and you will be well on your way to one day accompanying yourself singing while playing the piano! Just saying… *hint *hint ;)
