Recital

Sign-up sheets are now at the front desk.  If your teacher will be at one of the sessions, you can locate their name at the top of each time-sheet.  Be sure to get your name down in the time slot you want – there are limited slots, and no overbooking is allowed to keep us on track.

Memorado (app)

If you want to boost your cognitive abilities, take a look at the app called ‘Memorado’.  Using scientific foundations to improve brainpower in a number of areas, this app helps to chart progress, and is free (with in-app purchasing for additional types of games/puzzles) for iOS.  No Android version is available at present, but you can play online.

Baby Grand Piano for Sale

We have been contacted by a gentleman who no longer has space for an older Canadian baby grand piano (Mason and Risch) with bench.  We estimate this is likely 6 Ft. long.  The gentleman’s name is Herb West and can be emailed at [email protected].  The asking price is $3500.  Bear in mind you will need piano movers, and a tuning for this instrument.

The picture below is not of the actual instrument, but will give you an idea of size and finish.

Free Desk Available

We have a free desk with slide-out keyboard tray that is available for the first person that would like to pick it up.  Please call the office to arrange this.  The desk is 4 Ft wide and 2 Ft deep.  It has a hutch for the top which reaches to about 6 Ft high, and has two shelves.  Sadly, no photo is available.  It is partially disassembled, and needs a good home!

Student Reports Now Going Out

Our fall reporting is now complete and you should see your reports coming home over the next week.  Please take the time to review these, so you know what your students are up to.  In many cases things are fine, but you may need to get a new book or equipment for your student.  Likewise, there may be some simple issue in your student’s practice routine that you may not know about, and will need to address.

The goal in doing reporting is to help you and your child not only get the most value for your expenditure, but also to assure that the many benefits of music are being planted for the students.  Barnaby is working on an article – The Real Benefits of Music Lessons – which we hope to get to you in the coming couple of months.

Remember, you are always welcomed and encouraged to spend a few minutes with your student’s teacher after each lesson, to help you stay aware of what is going on.  We are your partners in education, and enjoy a close working relationship to support our students.
