Hello Everybody!

I hope you’ve all had a chance to enjoy the beautiful sunshine over the past few days! It’s been invigorating!!

We’ve been talking about parent involvement in class over the past few weeks, and this week we started a new series about how to support our children in the classroom. I thought I’d take a minute to share (and will continue to do so) for the parents who missed this week’s class.

As parents, we can often gravitate towards “doing” instead of “showing” for our kids. I’d like to ask you to resist the urge to “correct” how your child is experimenting with an instrument, and instead play your own instrument more vigorously, loudly and joyfully so that they SEE YOU making music. Children have a natural ability to teach themselves (more on this later!) and absorbing what their favorite people are doing is the most effective way for them to tune in.

Have a great week making lots of music!

Lisa
