Guitarist Gergely Szabo has an Advanced Diploma in Music Performance from Cambrian College where he majored in the classical guitar. Over his time there, he completed 2 years of comprehensive pedagogy courses. He also gained well grounded vocal skills, as well as basic knowledge on the piano. Outside of classical music, he exhibits a repertoire of skills and knowledge in playing the genres of rock, blues, and heavy metal music. He has experience in teaching the guitar and the ukulele to a range of people aged 6 to 54.
Gergely’s teaching methods include both the use of books and digital methods. The three main books he uses to teach guitar are as follows: “Guitar Method Book 1 by Will Schmid and Greg Koch,” “Four Star Sight Reading and Ear Tests RCM Level 1,” and “Classical Guitar Repertoire and Etudes RCM Level 1.” For teaching ukulele, he uses the book “Ukulele Songs for 1, 2, or 3 players by Elizabeth Ragsdale.” Aside from these, he frequently uses the Muse Score application as a play-along practicing tool.
Gergely’s passion for music and his dedication to growing the love of music in others are the biggest reasons why he teaches guitar and ukulele. His approach to teaching involves learning through play. The material he covers with his students is always delivered in a way that is highly interactive. Most of the assigned exercises he gives involve the elements of play that students can enjoy both in class and as homework.

Hello Everybody,
It has been a tremendously busy spring, with some challenges and opportunities.
Payment Issues
As you have noticed from some communications about payments, we have been experiencing a major issue with some clients having been billed twice in May for no apparent reason. We have pushed as hard as we can to have had this reversed quickly, but the lack of collaboration on this from our current software partners has been tremendously frustrating and disappointing. We have started to manually refund affected families and clients, as this has been tremendously embarrassing to us. This will be happening using Interac transfers. Because of daily limits, it may take a few days for you to see this, but we expect it to be completed by no later than Thursday, May 25th. Password for retrieving your e-transfer will be sent via text message – if you do not receive this, please reach out to us in the office via the 2-way text system at 226-799-4939.
This experience has eroded our trust in our software partner, and we are currently seeking a new solution. We will update y0u on this, but advise you that a transition to a new software has a learning curve, so we’ll ask for your patience in advance. We are considering developing our own properietary solution but suspect this will be a multi-year endeavour.
Please watch your accounts carefully in early June for any unusual activity and reach out to us if you see anything at all. We don’t think we can get the new software sorted before the end of June, at earliest.
Summer & Fall Registration
Because of the payment issues, we have not asked you for your summer or fall registration at this time, as we felt it wouldn’t be in good taste to ask for your commitment while we had an open and unresolved payment issue.
As a result, we expect to call and get your confirmation on Summer and Fall starting June.
As usual, billing for September to hold your spot will occur shortly after you confirm your booking. Summer billing will occur in July and August.
Similarly, if you have any special requirements or require flexibility for your September billing, please let us know so we can accommodate you.

Hey everyone! Apologies on forgetting to post this sooner. It’s been a hectic few days.

Excited to start our new Italian piece. I’m attaching all the links and information in today (Saturday’s) homework post, so it’s all in one place for you.

Great work today, pushing yourself! All the high fives. As you practice this week, I want you to try and sing a little louder. Remember, the deeper breath you take, the louder you can be. And the bigger you open your mouth, the louder you can be. We don’t need to break glass with our volume, but, if we can start to strengthen your voice, it’ll be easier to pinpoint more specific things we can work on, and help you have more control over your voice! Plus, we’ll get to hear more of your beautiful voice :)

Remember the number one thing right now is dropping your larynx and breathing deeply. I know you know, but now you gotta to put into practice. Remember to experiment with yawning before you start singing, breathing in through your nose and feeling that weight in your throat drop – that’s your larynx.
Also, I have found a solo arrangement of Seasons of Love, which we’ll look at next week.

The second edition of this world-famous method by Will Schmid and Greg Koch is preferred by teachers because it makes them more effective while making their job easier. Students enjoy its easy-to-follow format that gives them a solid music education while letting them play songs right away.
