Anastasiya

Anastasiya should practice 4-5 times per week for 15-20 mins per session – We have learned the notes for both hands for Ode to Joy. Refer to the notes I wrote on the separate sheet of paper to guide you on playing hands together, and try not to play too fast, choose a slow to moderate tempo. For next class – please get and bring the book (Elementary Instruction for the Pianoforte – Beyer) and music sheets!

Vivienne

Vivienne should practice 4-5 times per week for 15-20 mins per session – Now that we can play our pieces fluently, work on the dynamic changes, slurred playing, and staccatos. Also, practice hands separately on our new piece! We have also started using the pedal this week – try to do the pedalling exercise we did in class, and remember to pedal AFTER we play the note, NOT with the note.

Osten

Osten should practice 4-5 times per week at 15-20 mins per session – We seriously need to start increasing the number and quality of practices per week! Also, practice like how we did in class – focus in the bars where we often make mistakes, or when we need to move our hands for preparation; repeat the same bars until our playing improves!

Alyssa

Alyssa should practice 4-5 times per week at 30 mins – 1 hr per session – Technique – much improved! Keep practising on clarity, accuracy, with strong fingers and correct fingerings. Repertoire & Etude – Look out for the changes in articulation (slurs, staccatos, tenutos… etc.). Work on the slurred 16th notes in Allegretto in C – think about waves

Maria

Maria should practice 4-5 times per week at 15-20 mins per session – great improvement on playing hands together! Work on Get Away – be on time (on beat 1) in the bars we often pause.

Ruby

Ruby should practice 4-5 times per week at 15-20 mins per session – Since I won’t see you for 2 weeks, we will have lots of pieces to work on! We have learned the notes for all the assigned pieces in class, so practice on fluency at home, and try to add in dynamic changes (loudness/softness) when you can!
