Hi everyone,

Remember that there are no regular lessons next week for most of you as it is March break. If you are unsure whether or not you have a make-up lesson next Saturday, please call the front desk. Here are your homework assignments for this week:

Aidan

Practice the two new 4-bar phrases that are written in your book. Focus especially on the fills making sure that you count the right number of beats for each one. Also, try to be creative with the fills – use a variety of the rhythms that we’ve worked on and come up with different ways to move around the drums. Write a new 4-bar phrase of your own on the next page of your book.

Charlotte

Great work on the beats from “Fool in the Rain” by Led Zeppelin! Keep practicing them and see if you can play them faster – close to the speed of the recording. Also, practice the transition fills that happen between the two different beats. Next time, we’ll work on the middle section of the song with a new beat.

Samuel

Keep working on “Thunderstruck” by ACDC. Practice playing the main beat along with the recording. Also, see if you can fit in the first fill that we learned. Focus on how the triplet rhythm sounds against the pulse of the main beat. Next time we’ll work playing with the recording.

Cathy

Practice the two new beats from “Can’t Stop” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Take it nice and slow and focus on how the beats feel. If you can remember how they go and play them without looking at the page, this will help you to hear and feel the beats more while you’re playing. Next week we’ll work more on these beats as well as doing some more latin rhythms.
