Peter’s Homework June 17th

Nino Great job with Time of your life. The strumming has really come a long way! Have fun learning the Imperial March! Remember, you will learn the song faster by practicing smaller sections (even 2 notes that are difficult) by themselves before trying the whole song again!

Peter’s Homework June 10th

Nino Have fun with your chord modifications! Try tofin at least one or two different versions of each of the chords you know (adding other notes or removing a finger). See how much you can remember of "I love Rock and Roll). If you can't remember a section, look it up! Noah Have fun with the alternate chord voicings for [...]

Nino Keep practicing the separate parts of the song and putting them together. Try playing along with the recording to get the strumming right. Noah Work on the minor pentatonic scale starting on all the fretts you can reach. Make sure you are using appropriate fingers for the different fretts. Peter’s Homework April 29th

Noah Good job with Sweet Home Alabama. Have fun with the second ending of the phrase. Try each 3 not pattern by itself before putting the whole thing together. Practice finding all the natural notes on each string and saying them out loud while you play them. If you just go through each string once a day you will find [...]

Peter’s Homework April 22nd

Noah Keep practicing your hammer-ons and pull-offs. If you do then for even a minute or two every day they will sound great very soon! Same goes for the barre chords. If you practice building your major and minor barre chords for just 5 minutes every day they will get clearer every day. Next week we will be looking at [...]

Peter’s Homework April 15th

Noah Re-Listen to the studio version of This Town. Listen for the highest note of the guitar voicings. Practice plucking the correct roots with the chords. If it gets confusing, try eliminating the rest of the chord and just playing the bass notes. Have fun with Sweet Home Alabama! make sure you keep doing the hammer-ons and pull-offs every day [...]

Noah Good job on Time of Your Life. Make sure you are playing it daily for around 20 minutes to strengthen your callouses. Once you're pretty comfortable with the chords and the shifts, try playing along with the original recording. Nino Nice work learning Crazy train. Keep working on the alternate picking. Break the riff down into shorter sections and [...]
