Grade 3:

What we did this week:

We learned what a round was this week (playing the same music at different times to create a song with harmony). We played Frere Jacques two parts. We also learned the whole two octave A major scale and learned the finger pattern #3.

What did we listen to or watch, that you can watch at home?

We listened to a YouTube example of different rounds to show how they work.

What work is to be done this weekend:

Please work on the A major scale and the new finger pattern (the shape of the left hand and the tuning). Run through Frere Jacques and try to play it as a round at home.

What are we doing next week?

We will introduce May Song from the Suzuki book one and the A major arpeggio as well as the one octave A minor harmonic scale.

How much time should your student be practicing each day?

Try two concentrated 15 minute intervals again. One should be focused on the scale and posture, intonation and the ther 15 minute can be worked on the round.

How can you help your child?

If you are familiar with rounds you can play through Frere Jacques with your child as a two voice round. If not you can watch examples of rounds together. Try to ensure they have the Suzuki Book One for next week!
