Grade 1/2:

What we did this week:

We reviewed the A section and added the B section of Allegro. We spent some time focusing on the second octave of the G major scale and we also stated the first five notes of the G minor scale.

What did we listen to or watch, that you can watch at home?

We watched and listened to musical examples of different finger patterns (#1 and #2) as part of the two octave scale. We listened to a live example of the two patterns.

What work is to be done this weekend:

Working through the second octave of G major scale and the B section of Allegro. Please work on the first five notes of the G minor scale.

What are we doing next week?

We will play through the whole two octave scale in eighth notes and slurs. We will start to work on the G major arpeggio. We will run through Allegro.

How much time should your student be practicing each day?

A concentrated 20 minutes of practice should be tried for over the weekend.

How can you help your child?

You can help your child with the two finger patterns that we learned this week. Physically help with the land hand posture. Please ensure your child has all the necessary equipment for violin class (books, shoulder rest, rosin and extra strings). Please make sure you do not leave your violin out in the car for an extended period of time. The cold and dry weather can cause the violin to easily crack and in this time of the year the violin is especially vulnerable and delicate. Please take extra special care!
