Hello Everybody!

Now that we are firmly into winter and it looks like the vaccination strategy has normalized Covid to a manageable state we have decided it is time to sensitively re-introduce physical contact into our classes.

Physically communicating in musical activities is a vital part of building a full understanding and ‘feeling’ of music in the body and neurologically.  While we can do this individually and internally within a family to a high degree, it is fun and further stimulating to learning to do it socially with our friends and neighbours in class.

To respectfully re-introduce this level of contact we are going to borrow a page from some yoga classes, which have the teacher ask if anyone prefers not to be touched during class before we being.  In this way, anyone not comfortable will be able to put their hand up and say no thank you in a simple way that the rest of the class can see and try to respect while we go through class.  If your teacher or neighbour forgets during class, please just gently say ‘no thanks’ as a reminder.  We continue to prioritize good health practices and respectfully support individual families choices and requests.  Please help us with this as we re-introduce purposeful touch, one of our important learning and teacher tools, for the rest of this school year.

We hope that this simple, visible, and per-class approach offers everyone the necessary opportunity to continue to feel comfortable and supported while enjoying the fullest class experience we can offer.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, please call the office at 416-651-7529, or try our texting number (in testing this school year) at 226-799-4939.  Thank you!
