What to practice: Keep practicing the triads and the inversions. You definitely caught onto the idea quickly which is great. Next week we’ll focus more on Thunder Rolls.

How to practice it most effectively: Keep naming the triads, don’t feel rushed, triads take a lifetime to work on. If you can, use a metronome while you play them.

What to practice: You did a great job memorizing Amazing Grace! Next time I see you I want to see if you can do the whole thing for memory. Also take a look at when the saints go marching and keep working on your chords.

How to practice it most effectively: For memorization I always try to remember a little key section of every four bars that sticks out and reminds me what to do. Taking it by 4 bar chunks at a time will be helpful.

What to practice: Try to figure out the chords to  3 of hearts. Also work on Bamboo Bones, work on the Bo Diddley rhythm while keeping your strumming hand performing constant eight notes.

How to practice it most effectively: I like to figure out the low notes while listening to a recording and that usually tells me a lot of info about what the chord is going to be. So try to start there.

What to practice: Nice job with the strumming pattern this week. Keep working on the two melodies for Bruno and In My Life. We’ll keep focusing on those next week.

How to practice it most effectively: Play along to the songs, just jam out and have fun and use your ears.

What to practice: Keep working on the C major scale in thirds, you almost got the whole thing memorized. Secondly, we finished Spider-man, so keep practicing that and I’ll ask you to play it for me next week. Lastly, we’ll work on happy birthday next week.

How to practice it most effectively: Try to play the C major scale with your sister, she could help you learn it. Also just have fun with Spiderman theme and play it for fun.

What to practice: Work on Smoke on the water, make sure you’re only hitting the low E string and not the other strings. The pattern is

0-3-5

0-3-6-5

0-3-5-3-0

How to practice it most effectively: Practice slowly and make sure you’re getting a clear note, this will take some experimenting with how much pressure to put on the string.
