  • good work on D major – try to work on the next octave up to high D above the staff

Gymnopédie No 1

  • If you can, print out the piece so you don’t have to scroll to see the next page
  • Practice it with a metronome between 60 to 75 to the quarter
  • Practice the transitions between the notes especially up to the high A
  • Blow lots of fast air to get up to the A
  • articulate the repeated F#s as though they are words in a sentence – do something different with each note
  • after you get the fingerings for the notes and the transitions down, try to make it musical by adding in the crescendos and decrescendos
