Here are your homework assignments for this week:
Take a look at the stick control exercises that we worked on this week. “R” stands for right stick and “L” stands for left stick. Practice them slowly to make sure you are getting the sticking right. Also, practice the new beat from “Everlasting Light” by the Black Keys.
Practice the pre-chorus of “You Shook Me All Night Long” by ACDC. Focus on the bass drum crashes at the end of each bar. This kind of rhythm will be used again later in the song. Also, keep working on the verse beat and see if you can play it a little bit faster this week.
Great work on the accent patterns. Spend a little more time this week working on them and also see if you can make some up on your own. Practice the main beat from “Crying Lightening” by Arctic Monkeys. Focus on playing the triplet sixteenth notes evenly and assertively.
“Don’t Let Me Down” sounds really great! Remember to sing the melody in your head before you count in to make sure you’ve got a good tempo. Feel free to play as loud and strong as you want to. I will follow you.
Keep working on the accent patterns. They’re sounding better each week. Focus on playing #6 together with the bass drum. Also, try playing each pattern as a drum fill in combination with a beat. Remember to practice slowly!
