Hello Everyone!

Hope you are all enjoying your March Break!

Here is the homework for this week.

Enjoy!

Isla

Recommended daily practice time is 30 minutes per day

Homework:

Good work Isla! We went through Popular and really dug into the character. I really loved your commitment to the comedy in this piece. Don’t be afraid to go farther in your exploration and discovery of the text! Have fun. For next week let’s look into more pieces that have a bit of comedy in them! Listen to Taylor the latte boy, let me know what you think.

How parents can help:

Encourage your child to have a daily practice routine and ensure that they are filling out their homework logs correctly. In addition to the online homework posts, I recommend that each student keep and maintain a homework journal where they can fill in how long they practice and what they worked on that week. You can decorate it to make it fun!

Marco

Recommended daily practice time is 5-10 minutes per day

Homework:

Good work playing through Shadows. Be sure to move at a faster tempo for this piece this week. We also worked on Smooth and Crunchy. This piece is tricky because of the rhythm. Be sure to fill in the counting for the whole piece and play each section at a time. You can clap and count the rhythm before playing each section. Break this piece down into smaller chunks to make it easier to learn. Good luck! You can do it!

Danny

Recommended daily practice time is 15-20 minutes per day

Homework:

This week we looked at Swirling leaves. It is a tricky piece because it begins with an incomplete measure and has a key signature. That means we don’t start on beat one and all the B’s that appear in the song are flattened even though the flat isn’t written directly in front of the note. Remember to play each B as a Bb instead. Take this song slow and be sure all the quarter notes are even.

Sina

Recommended daily practice time is 15-20 minutes per day

Homework:

Good work Sina! This week we added a few more songs to our list. Including Ping Pong, money can’t buy everything, and The cuckoo.  Be sure to read the letter names when you are stuck. If you wish to go ahead go for it!

Recommended daily practice time is 15-20 minutes per day

Homework:

Good work with The Ant, The Wind and This little light. Whenever we are working on new pieces always be sure to read each song like a story. For the Ant there were a couple of wrong notes. Have a look at the problem areas in your practice this week.
