Great first lessons of three that I will subbing for your teacher Tristan, guys!  Remember to practice daily (if you can) what we worked on in the lessons.  All of you, please bring a notebook for me to write notes in for our next two lessons.

Anastasiya

Awesome that you remembered how we worked and what we talked about when I subbed for Tristan last season!  Remember the 3 steps to practice anything (musical):  1.  Straighten your spine, and engage your core muscles  2.  Start MOVING to the piece’s rhythm (MOVE on the ‘strong beats’  in SLOW MOTION  3.  Start playing the piece (H.S./hands separately if needed).

Madison

Read and put into practice the ‘3 steps to learn anything’ mentioned in Anastasiya’s comment above.  HOW you move = HOW it sounds!  So — be creative with how the piece you are playing (e-motionally) MOVES you!

Melody

Read and put into practice the ‘3 steps to learn anything’ mentioned in Anastasiya’s comment above.  Remember, music’s ‘equation’ is RHYTHM (a repetitive MOTION) + LYRICISM (AKA MELODY;) expressed through (=) SOUND (the sound you create by articulating the keys should reflect the union between rhythm and lyricism)!

Juliette

Formidable!!  Though you didn’t understand many of my English words, we were still able to communicate and understand each other.   Good job, Juliette!!  Read and put into practice the ‘3 steps to learn anything’ mentioned in Anastasiya’s comment above.  Read Madison’s and Melody’s comments as well ~ these apply to you, too!!
