Wednesday Students:

Anastasiya:  You’re doing so well!  Keep working on the first three parts of happy birthday. Practice the conducting pattern we learned (floor, wall, wall, ceiling) and count out loud as you do it. Practice finding middle C (in the middle of the piano just to the left of the two black keys), Practice pressing all five fingers down together in both hands making sure your fingers are arched and strong. Practice pressing each of your fingers on each note one at a time. See you soon!

Shakira:  Great work this week! Think of the next part of the Coco story to tell.Practice the conducting pattern we learned (floor, wall, wall, ceiling) and count out loud as you do it. Do some improvisation using only the black keys of the piano.  Make it really fancy if you want. Draw a picture of something musical, maybe of you playing the piano or Coco on the piano.  See you soon!

Madison: Nice work!  Keep working on the Indian Song, try to learn the whole thing as far as you can. Practice the conducting pattern we learned (floor, wall, wall, ceiling) and count out loud as you do it. See you soon!

Eduardo:  Your work on the Bach Prelude is awesome!  Keep learning a little bit more each day and always be sure to use the fingerings on the music page. Think about how the different chords sound. Happy? Expectant? Tense? Try working through your sight-reading book A Dozen A Day that I loaned you.  See if you can read through as many as you can.  Make it fun!  See you soon!

Madeleine: I’m so proud of you for learning O Susannah on your own.  It sounds amazing!  Keep working on it to make it as smooth and pretty as you can. Try singing along as you play.  Don’t be shy, you have a nice voice! Practice the conducting pattern we learned (floor, wall, wall, ceiling) and count out loud as you do it. See you soon!

Saturday Students:

Chiara:  Great work on your character of Princess Lucy.  She really is a funny girl, seems so impatient don’t you think?  I think her voice is nice and loud!  I also really like the other characters you came up with Gerald the Monster and…Kayla the Nerd.  I look forward to your next character! You have such an awesome imagination.  Work on learning the first three verses of The Water is Wide.  Make it as beautiful as you can.  See you soon!

Isabel:  Good work this week.  I can hear an improveent in your upper register already.  You are getting more brave and using more air.  Try the “Filling the tank” excercise. 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full.  Do this several times but make sure you don’t get dizzy.  I think your voice for the chosen “Fun” solo is really cool and you are going to rock it.  Remember to try slowing down the tempo so you make all the words crisp.  Say the words in rhythm first then add the melody. Next week we will choose a song for you to work on.  If you have something specific you’d like to learn let me know.  See you soon!

Vee:  You did so great this week VEE!  I can hear that you’ve really discovered the strong part of your range.  I am also impressed with how you caught on to the idea of “isolating the vowel” within a word to make it “ring”.  Let’s continue with the song we were working on (eagles?) and also pick another song to work on.  Something with a different character.  Remember that your starting note is in the chord you’re playing on the uke.  Use all the resources available.  You are doing so well! See you soon!
