Hi Ronan!
Here’s what to do this week.
Memorize the string names
- Funny sentence to memorize the string names with: “Eat A Darn Good Breakfast Everyday”
- I’ll quiz you on this next week
- The PDF below is a diagram showing you the guitar strings and the order those^ letters are in — Remember: we speak upside down in guitar. “Higher” means closer to the floor. “Lower” means the opposite. Because “higher” means higher in pitch.
Spanish Influence
This is the little piece I wrote for my students. We did this in class today.

- Play them in this order
- Remember: they’re all only on four strings of the guitar. D, G, B, and the high E.
- My Sep 19th post describes how this type of diagram works — https://www.music-lessons.ca/ronan-sep-19th/
- 4 strums per chord
Play with the guitar you brought to class today
Its strings are lighter than your other guitar. This will make it easier to play.
- Check to see if your other guitar’s new string(s) are too hard. If they are, then continue to use the guitar you played with today.
Restringing the guitar
YouTube has many links on how to restring the guitar. The one below will be fine.
- Watch this video before attempting to restring the guitar. As well: Do this with the help of an adult. You don’t wanna hurt yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyo2kT2UGFM
- If you have questions about this^ then I will gladly discuss them with you next week.
Thanks Ronan! I’ll see you in a week!
