A graduate of The Royal Academy of Music’s Masters Program in London UK, David Shewchuk has performed as Soloist in venues across Canada and the UK including Mazzoleni Hall in Toronto and the Duke’s Hall in London. He has performed a wide variety of musical styles including: Classical, Folk Rock, Blues, Bluegrass, Mariachi and Jazz, and has collaborated with such recording artists as Meghan Patrick and The Trans-Siberian Orchestra. David has most recently performed as concertmaster of The Quinte West Symphony and Soloist for The Ontario Philharmonic.
Other Solo performances include Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy with the Durham Chamber Orchestra and Vivaldi’s Summer and Winter with The Northumberland Symphony Orchestra. David has performed with orchestras such as The Arch Sinfonia and London Graduate Orchestra in London, Riverside Opera in Kingston England, Banff Centre Orchestra and The Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra in Canada. David has also performed in charity concerts to raise money for such organizations as Big Brother, Markham Stouffville Hospital and The Unionville Homes Society.David has lead the Beethoven Septet in performance at The Forge in Camden and performed in many chamber music concerts both self presented and for The Ontario Philharmonic.
He has composed an album of solo violin works and presented them in a solo recital. Under the guidance of R Murray Schafer, he has premiered an original work in collaboration with Artists of OCAD (Ontario College of Art and Design). Among David’s body of work there is extensive composition and transcription, having transcribed Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsodies for String Quintet as well as Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir, Queen’s Don’t Stop me now and a number of original works including pieces for String Quintet, Trio, Quartet, Flute Choir, and Solo Violin.David has been instructed by some of the worlds top musicians.
He has attended and performed in Masterclasses by: Maxim Vengerov, Midori, James Ehnes, Tasmin Little, Leonidas Kavakos, Claude Richard, Andres Cardenes, Leon Fleisher, Paquito de Riviera and performed in orchestra projects directed by: Semyon Bychkov, Julian and Anton Kuerti, Peter Oundjian, Johannes Debus, Uri Mayer and Sir Roger Norrington. He has been instructed privately by Violinists, Erika Raum, So-Ock Kim, Mateja Marinkovic, Yehonatan Berrick and more.Beginning the Violin at age five, he has now been performing for over twenty years and is currently performing on an Antonio Stradivarius Faciebat 1710 replica by Vittorio Formaggia Fece made in 2005.
