ABC Academy offers both private lessons and Music Together® group classes, and they serve different goals.

Private lessons are one-on-one instruction. Your child works directly with a teacher for 30 or 45 minutes. Lessons run year-round on a weekly schedule. This is the traditional model for kids who want to develop real skill on an instrument.

Music Together group classes are for infants and toddlers, from birth to age 5, always with a caregiver present. Classes run in 10-week seasons and focus on music literacy, listening, and family bonding, not instrument technique. Music Together is less expensive than private lessons because you’re in a group setting. We offer a free demo class so families can try it first. What’s Included in Private Lesson Cost

When you sign up for private lessons, you get a trained teacher, consistent scheduling, a structured lesson plan, and access to our make-up policy. Your child meets the same teacher every week. That continuity matters for progress.

Our teachers can teach piano, guitar, drums, voice, strings, woodwinds, and brass. For younger students starting piano, we recommend a weighted-key keyboard such as a Yamaha P-45, which gives proper touch and ear training. For voice, group classes, and acoustic instruments, no special gear is required.

Make-ups are guaranteed: you get up to two guaranteed make-up lessons per teaching year if your child misses due to illness or scheduling conflict. We also offer make-ups for weather closures and teacher absences. Group classes don’t have make-up lessons, so that’s another value difference in private instruction.

What Actually Drives Lesson Cost
