Parent and toddler in music class at ABC Academy

Musical experience in early childhood shapes how children process language for years afterward. Consistency matters more than the specific activity.

Toddler Music Class in Davisville

Music Together® is for children from birth through age five, with a parent or caregiver. During each 45-minute class, you sit with your child and sing, play instruments, move, and listen together. It’s a gentle introduction that meets toddlers where they are developmentally.

We hold Music Together classes at our Lawrence Park studio, a short distance from Davisville Station and Davisville Park. Classes run in 10-week seasons, and we offer a free demo class so you can see what a session looks like before you enroll.

What Happens in a Music Together Class

A trained Music Together teacher leads the class through singing, instrument exploration, and movement activities. There’s no performance pressure, no instruction to keep rhythm perfectly, and no expectation that your child will sit still the whole time. The point is to experience music together and to make it a normal, joyful part of your week.

Each child gets time with real instruments—shakers, bells, drums, and others. Parents sing along and participate actively. Many caregivers find these classes are as much for them as for their children: a chance to step outside the routine and spend focused time with their toddler in a relaxed environment.

Why Music Together for Toddlers

Research shows that early musical experience supports language development, listening skills, and emotional bonding. Music Together doesn’t teach kids to read music or perform on stage. Instead, it builds a foundation of comfort with music and sound, normalizes singing at home, and gives you and your child a predictable, nurturing weekly ritual.

Toddlers are naturally curious about sound and movement. Music Together channels that curiosity into a structured but playful space where both of you can explore music together without pressure.

Getting Started

Our Lawrence Park studio is close to the Davisville neighbourhood. We run classes several times a week in 10-week seasons. The first step is to visit a free demo class so you can meet the teacher and see if the format feels right for your family. After that, you can enroll in a full season or pick individual classes.

Music Together is designed to be flexible. If your child is fussy one day or wants to sit quietly and watch the next, that’s completely fine. Caregivers set the tone, and we meet your family where you are.

After Music Together

Some children move on to private lessons once they turn five. We offer piano, guitar, voice, and other instruments at our Lawrence Park and Conway studios. Private lessons give your child one-on-one attention from a teacher with formal training and experience working across ages and levels.

But many families continue with Music Together for the full five years, then pause lessons for a time, then return later. There’s no single right path. Music Together is meant to be an accessible entry point whenever your family is ready.

FAQ

Does my toddler need to have any musical experience or talent?

No. Music Together is for every child. We’re not auditioning or selecting talented kids. The class is designed to introduce music in a play-based way, whether or not your child has been around music before.

What if my child cries or acts fussy during class?

Completely normal. Toddlers have big feelings, and a new environment can feel overwhelming some days. The teacher and other parents understand this. You can take a break, step outside, or just sit quietly and let your child observe. There’s no pressure to participate in every activity.

How long is a 10-week season, and when do new seasons start?

Each season runs 10 weeks. We schedule classes throughout the year so there are multiple entry points. You can contact us to find out when the next season begins and which times work well for your schedule.

Can my child join part way through a season?

Yes. We can usually accommodate mid-season enrolment. Contact us to discuss timing and availability.
