Musical experience in early childhood shapes how children process language for years afterward. Consistency matters more than the specific activity.

Toddler Music Class in Heart Lake, Brampton

Music Together® is designed for children from birth through age 5, with a caregiver or parent. If your family lives in or near Heart Lake, you may have wondered whether there’s a music program that fits your toddler’s age and your family’s schedule. Music Together fills that gap.

Classes meet once a week for 10 weeks. Each family attends with their child — there’s no audition, no performance pressure, and no expectation that your child can “keep a beat” or sit still for the entire class. The teacher leads songs, movement, and listening activities. Children participate however they’re comfortable, and caregivers learn techniques to use at home.

Every session includes a free demo class, so you can try it without commitment. Music Together is run through our Brampton studio.

What Happens in a Music Together Class

A typical 45-minute class includes singing, instrument play, and movement. Children explore bells, shakers, and small drums. Songs are simple, repetitive, and designed for young voices and bodies. Many families continue the songs at home between classes.

Our classes are led by Trained Music Together teachers. The goal is not to teach reading or performance skills — it’s to help children develop an intuitive feel for music and rhythm through play and repetition, with you there the whole time.

After Music Together: What’s Next

Most families move to private lessons starting at age 5. We offer piano, violin, guitar, and other instruments at our Lawrence Park studio and our Conway studio. Private lessons run 30 or 45 minutes per week. Our private-lesson teachers hold university music degrees or the equivalent.

Some families stay with group lessons. Others do both. Current rates and class schedules are available on our tuition page.

Heart Lake Location and Studio Access

Heart Lake is one of Brampton’s most established neighbourhoods, centred on the conservation area and surrounded by schools, parks, and family-friendly amenities. Our Brampton studio is about 14 minutes from the Kennedy and Bovaird intersection — the heart of Heart Lake.

If you’re closer to Toronto or prefer a different location, we also run sessions at our Lawrence Park and Conway studios.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my toddler need any music experience or ability to sing?

No. Music Together is for every child, regardless of whether you consider yourself “musical” or not. The class teaches through play and repetition. Your child won’t be asked to perform or demonstrate a skill. Parents often find they learn as much as their children.

What if my child cries or doesn’t want to participate?

That’s completely normal, especially in the first few classes. Children participate at their own pace. Some sit quietly and listen for several weeks before jumping in. The teacher and other families understand. If you’d like to observe first, the demo class is a good way to see what a session looks like.

How do I know if Music Together is right for my family?

Attend the free demo class. You’ll meet the teacher, see the space, and get a real feel for what’s included. If it’s a fit, you can sign up for the full 10-week session. If it’s not, there’s no pressure.

What instruments do children use?

Classes include small percussion instruments like bells, shakers, and drums. You don’t need to own anything. The studio provides all instruments for class.
