Toddler Music Classes Near Lawrence Park

ABC Academy runs Music Together classes for toddlers at 2180 Bayview Avenue, five minutes from Yonge and Lawrence. The classes are open to children from birth through age 8, though the heart of the program is the toddler years — roughly 12 months to 3 years, when musical absorption is at its peak and sitting still is not yet required.
Music Together: What It Is
Music Together is an international early childhood music curriculum. ABC Academy has been a licensed provider since 2003. Classes mix ages — a 14-month-old might be next to a 2.5-year-old — and parents or caregivers participate throughout. You’re not watching from the side. You’re in the circle, singing.
Shelley Mayer, who holds a master’s degree from the University of Toronto and is also a certified classroom teacher, leads several of our toddler sessions. She brings a background in early childhood development that shapes how she paces the class and reads the room when a toddler starts to fray.
A typical class: 45 minutes, on the floor. Songs, chants, simple instruments (egg shakers, small drums, scarves for movement), and free exploration time. The same songs come back for the entire 10-week season, which isn’t repetitive — it’s how toddlers learn. The fifth time they hear a song, they start to anticipate the next word. By the eighth time, they’re filling it in.
Why Lawrence Park Families Use It
A lot of families who walk to class from Lawrence Park Ravine or who drop off at Lawrence Park Collegiate in the mornings find the Bayview location genuinely convenient. There’s no parking hunt at 2180 Bayview, and the timing of our Saturday morning sessions works well for families who also use Kennedy Dance — which shares the same address — so a sibling can take a dance class while the toddler is in Music Together.
Lawrence Station on the Yonge line is an eight-minute walk. If you’re coming from Yonge and Lawrence, the walk is flat and simple.
Pricing and What’s Included

Every season, your family gets a songbook and a recording of that season’s songs — about 15 to 20 tracks. The home listening is part of the program. When your toddler hears “Hello Everybody” in the car on Thursday and then again in class on Saturday, they start making connections you can see on their face.
New families get a free demo class before committing. No pressure at the end of it — come in, see how your toddler takes to the room, and decide from there.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if my toddler won’t sit still?
They won’t. That’s expected. Toddlers in Music Together wander, climb on parents, mouth the egg shakers, and occasionally stand in the middle of the circle looking confused. None of that stops them from absorbing the music. The class is designed for actual toddler behaviour.
Do I have to sing?
Yes. Music Together is a caregiver-and-child program. Your voice is part of what your toddler is hearing. It doesn’t matter how well you sing — your child is not judging you, and neither is anyone else in the room.
How is this different from a drop-in playgroup with music?
The curriculum is structured and sequential. The songs are chosen for tonal and rhythmic variety across the season. The repetition is intentional and pedagogically grounded, not just a playlist looped in the background. It’s genuinely different from an informal music-and-movement playgroup.
