Toddler Music Class in St. Clair West

Music Together® is for children from birth through age 5, and you attend together as caregiver and child. Classes run for 10 weeks at a time, and you can try a free demo class before you enroll. Our St. Clair West studio sits near St. Clair and Bathurst, close to Wychwood Barns and the Cedarvale Ravine, with easy access from St. Clair West Station.

The program is built on a simple idea: music development in young children happens through singing, moving, and listening together. You don’t need to read music or have musical experience. Our classes are led by Trained Music Together teachers who bring consistency and structure to each session.

What to Expect in Class

A Music Together class lasts 45 minutes. You and your child sit together while our teacher guides you through songs, movement activities, and instrument play. The same songs and patterns repeat across all 10 weeks, so your child learns through repetition and play.

Classes are group-based, with a mix of ages from newborn through five-year-olds. That’s intentional—younger children learn by watching older ones, and older toddlers reinforce their skills by modeling for the little ones.

You’ll bring home recordings of all class songs so you can sing together at home. That continuity between class and home is where most of the learning happens.

Why Music Together, Not Private Lessons

Private lessons are for children who are at least 5 years old. Younger children learn through the group and family-based approach that Music Together provides. The program is designed for the developmental stage your child is in right now—lots of listening, singing with you, and exploring sound without pressure to perform or master technique.

Once your child turns 5 and shows interest in deeper study, we offer private piano, guitar, violin, and voice lessons at our Lawrence Park studio and our Conway studio.

When Classes Meet

Music Together runs in 10-week seasons. We offer daytime and early-evening classes to fit different family schedules. Check our current schedule and availability on the registration page. If a class fills up, you can join the waitlist for the next season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need musical experience to attend Music Together with my child?

No. You don’t need to sing on pitch, read music, or play an instrument. The teacher guides everyone through the activities. Many parents tell us they feel more confident singing by the end of the first season.

What if my child is shy or doesn’t want to participate?

That’s normal, especially for younger toddlers. Some children sit quietly and listen for the entire first session. The teacher won’t force participation. By week four or five, most children start to join in as they get comfortable with the routine and the other kids.

Can I attend if my child has a sibling in a different age range?

Yes. Many families bring a younger and older sibling to the same class. The program is designed so both ages benefit from being together.

What happens after a 10-week season ends?

You can enroll in the next season if you’d like to continue, or you can pause. Once your child turns 5, you have the option to explore private lessons, which go deeper into instrument technique and music reading.
