Music Together® classes in Moore Park

ABC Academy of Music offers Music Together® classes in Moore Park, Toronto, taught from our Lawrence Park studio at 2180 Bayview Ave (at Lawrence & Bayview), North York M4N 3K7. We’ve been an authorized Music Together center in Toronto since 2003. Music Together® is a research-based early childhood music program for children from birth through age five, with a caregiver attending every class. Classes run in 10-week seasons; enrollment is for the full season because the program depends on cumulative repetition of the same song collection. Private lessons at our studio are $55.38 for 30 minutes or $64.81 for 45 minutes; a trial lesson is $20. Full season fees are on our tuition and rates page, along with current schedule and registration details. Our Music Together® teachers hold university music degrees or equivalent conservatory credentials. Rating: 4.8★ from 150 students on Google.

What happens in a Music Together® class

A typical 45-minute session at 2180 Bayview moves through several kinds of music-making: a hello song that names each child, small rhythm instruments (egg shakers, hand drums, lummi sticks), full-body movement songs, and lullabies toward the end. Emma Berube, one of our Music Together® teachers, sings live throughout. No recordings, no screen time.

The same songs, chants, and rhythm activities repeat across all ten weeks of a season. Young children need to hear a song eight to ten times before they can anticipate the melody, and another several times before they begin to fill in a lyric or tap the beat on their own. By week six or seven, you’ll hear your child humming something in the car on the way home along Moore Avenue. That accumulation is what the curriculum is built around.

Caregivers attend every class, and what you do there matters. An engaged caregiver who sings and makes eye contact is fuel to the fire; a distracted caregiver is water on the fire. The quality of your singing is irrelevant; your presence is not. Grandparents and nannies are welcome in your place.

Getting to our studio from Moore Park

Our Lawrence Park studio is at 2180 Bayview Ave, North York M4N 3K7, roughly seven minutes from Moore Park. The most direct route is north along Moore Avenue to Merton Street, then east to Bayview, then north to Lawrence. Sunnybrook Park is less than ten minutes from the studio on foot, so pairing a class morning with a park visit is easy.

By TTC, take the 97 Yonge bus north from Davisville Station to Lawrence, then transfer to the 52 Lawrence East bus east to Bayview, about twenty minutes total. Parking includes a small lot behind the building, a paid lot across Bayview, and metered street parking along Lawrence Avenue.

What children get at different ages

A six-month-old experiences the room through sound, rhythm, and their caregiver’s face. The class plants seeds: a consistent musical vocabulary and the early tonal patterns that underpin musical language later.

A three-year-old begins to match pitch on familiar phrases, keep a rough beat with a hand drum, and initiate musical play at home. The repetition pays off visibly: children fill in a lyric or lead a gesture before the group reaches it.

At four and five, Rhythm Kids, available at select locations, bridges into more structured activities. After age five, children move into private lessons in piano, guitar, singing, or other instruments. The path from Music Together® into RCM preparation is well-travelled at our studio; recreational learners are equally at home.

Drop-in classes offer variety, which keeps adults engaged, but variety works against how toddlers build musical intuition. In Music Together®, the same songs recur all ten weeks because children need that repetition to anticipate, then fill in, then own a piece of music. Accumulation produces the growth parents notice. We offer a free demo class if you’d like to experience the program before committing.
Yes. Children at this age learn music by watching the adults they trust most. Singing quality is beside the point; what matters is that you try. An engaged caregiver is fuel to the fire; a disengaged one dampens the child’s learning even in the same room. Grandparents and nannies are welcome in your place.
Birth through age five, always with a caregiver. Mixed-age classes allow siblings to attend together. After age five, Rhythm Kids, where available, bridges into private lessons in piano, guitar, singing, and other instruments at our Lawrence Park studio.
Yes. From Rosedale, head north on Mount Pleasant to Lawrence Avenue East and right to Bayview, about twelve minutes. From Leaside, drive north on Bayview from Eglinton to Lawrence, roughly eight minutes.
