Drum lesson — Lytton Park

Drum lessons for Lytton Park families

Learning drums takes coordination and patience. What keeps most kids practicing past month two is a teacher who notices when frustration sets in, and who can make the fundamentals feel less like work.

Our Lawrence Park studio is about six minutes from Yonge and Lawrence. If you’re between Avenue Road and Bayview, or near Lawrence Station, the trip is straightforward. Our private-lesson teachers hold university music degrees or the equivalent.

Drum lessons run 30 or 45 minutes. Current rates are on our tuition page. A 30-minute lesson is $55.38 and a 45-minute lesson is $64.81; a trial lesson is $20. Private drums begin at age 5.

Frequently asked questions about drum lessons for Lytton Park families

Is six minutes from Lytton Park realistic for a weekly lesson?
For most families it is. Yonge Street runs straight through the neighbourhood, and our Lawrence Park studio is a short drive north. Parking is available at the studio.
My child is interested in drums, but I’m not sure they’ll stick with it. How do you handle that?
Most kids who quit music do so because the teacher and student aren’t a good fit, not because they lack interest. We start by matching students with teachers based on age and learning style. If the match isn’t right, we try again before the student loses momentum.
What gear does my child need before the first lesson?
A practice pad and drumsticks to start. Your teacher will guide you toward used acoustic drum kits once you’ve committed to ongoing lessons. You don’t need a full setup before lesson one.
What’s the make-up policy if we miss a lesson?
We offer up to 2 guaranteed make-up lessons per teaching year for student absences. Additional make-ups are available for teacher absences and weather closures. Group lessons don’t have make-ups. See our policies page for full details.
